Interview Guide for Employers within the Construction Industry

Start an interview with some icebreaker questions – this helps to set a comfortable tone and allows a Candidate to ease into the conversation – a Candidate at ease will always result in a more positive interview.

- What specific roles have you held on construction sites, and what were your primary responsibilities in those roles?
- Which has been the role or project you have enjoyed the most and why?
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- What construction certifications or qualifications do you hold (e.g., CSCS card, NVQs)?
- How do you stay updated with the latest building codes and regulations in the UK?
- Can you describe your experience with specific construction software or technologies (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM)?
- How familiar are you with health and safety regulations on construction sites?
- Can you provide an example of how you’ve ensured compliance on a Project or Site you have worked on?
Project Management and Problem-Solving
- Can you describe a challenging construction project you’ve managed or worked on? How did you address the challenges?
