What to write in your resignation letter

You can keep it brief or go into more detail (however, always remember to be gracious you may need to rely on your current employer for a reference – so DO NOT burn your bridges and remember to be respectful!). Below are some essential pieces of information you need to include:

  • Your name
  • The date
  • The position you’re resigning from
  • Addressed to the appropriate person (line manager, supervisor, manager etc.)
  • When your resignation will take effect
  • Your signature

If you are really struggling and don't know where to start see below for an example resignation letter…
